08/03/2010 "Men need to be educated", - Ms. Ulviyya Mammadova, executive director of Gender Equality and Women’s Initiatives Public Association reckons. On March 8, «After Work» program discussed the women’s participation in decision-making processes in Azerbaijan. Ms. Mammadova reckons that the responsibility in the family should be shared: - We held survey among women in Azerbaijan. It became clear that they supported the idea of working. Women’s engagement in household, motherhood responsibilities don’t allow them to develop. We don’t think men should bear more responsibility. Responsibilities should be shared. We think on changing our work methodology, because we always say, but women listen, and men don’t. Men need to be educated so that their thinking could change. Only working with women could by no means yield effect. As regards the mentality, women’s role is to care for their husbands and families. But it is not right if they accept it extremely. more listen & download (in Azerbaijani)
